Championing The Success of Women - Part 5

From the very beginning our goal has been to create pieces that focus on a feeling instead of fashion trends, designing pieces that help women of all ages and body types live as their most confident selves. In addition to creating clothes that look good, feel good and last.
Throughout the years we have found ways to actively be involved in our community and support causes that go beyond a woman's wardrobe.

This Women’s History Month, we spoke with five women we admire about their work, how women coming together changes everything for the better, and their style.

Tomeka Cherry (@cherrypickedstyle) has been taking the advice she gave to her 20-year-old self-head-on. A digital content creator in the lifestyle and fashion space with almost 16,000 followers on Instagram, she plans to make sure her work goes beyond the four corners of our screens.
Scroll down to learn more about Tomeka’s important life lesson, and how she uses style to represent herself online and in-person.

Tell us a bit about your current role (or career) and how it uplifts women around you and in your industry

I am a digital content creator, who shares lifestyle and fashion tips via social media platforms.

Through creativity and authenticity, I'm able to share parts of my life that resonate with (and hopefully inspire) women around me and in my industry.

What achievement are you most proud of, personally or professionally?

It may sound trite, but that answer will always be raising my daughter (21) and son (18). I have never worked harder in my life and when I look at the amazing young adults they have become, or better yet, hear it from teachers, mentors, coaches, other parents...it's a pride (I have) that is indescribable.

If you could give your 20-year-old self-one piece of career advice, what would that be?

Find what truly makes you happy. Do that and don't focus too much on the money.

If you love what you do, you will give 100% and the money will come.

What do you think women-led companies should encourage in their industries and why?

I think a lot of women-led companies do this already, but I feel we can always do better with diversity. A diverse workplace offers more ideas and experiences, a broader range of skill sets, a sense of belonging...which I feel is a catalyst to increased productivity and overall happiness.

How does style factor into your career?

Style plays a major role in my career. As a content creator who shares her style daily, I'm very conscious of what I wear and share. I enjoy gowns and I enjoy sweats. Fortunately, I get to do both in my career. They just have to be made well and withstand any trend!

Please finish the sentence: "When women work together____."

When women work together, magic happens!!

Just like finding your signature style, happiness is a work in progress -- every step and mis-step brings you closer to the kind of woman you want to be in the world.

Ironically, the first step in becoming your higher self is acting like you are your higher self now, fashion choices included.

This concludes our blog series for Women’s History Month! We hope you enjoyed the insight, bravery, and pride our guests took in their roles and their lives -- we’re inspired! No matter where you are in life or style, Sympli will be here to make the journey an elegant, and less complicated one.
